In this short lesson, I’ll show you how chunking helps you see groups of notes, chords and familiar shapes as a single musical idea — allowing you to process the score faster and keep playing.

One of the biggest challenges in sight reading is trying to process notes and complex rhythms at the same time.
In this lesson, I’ll show you how to simplify rhythms first, establish the underlying pulse, and then gradually add the detail back in.
This gives you a practical way to approach difficult passages without stopping every few beats.

Do I need to be good at sight reading already?
Not at all. The course starts by breaking sight reading into its fundamental skills and builds from there. It’s suitable for players who find reading difficult as well as more experienced guitarists who want to become faster and more fluent.
Is this course specifically for classical guitar?
Yes. Everything is designed around the unique challenges of reading music on the classical guitar, including fretboard navigation, positions, fingering, intervals, patterns and reading polyphonic music.
What will I learn?
You’ll develop note recognition, fretboard knowledge, rhythm, intervals, key signatures, pattern recognition and reading fluency. You’ll also learn practical strategies such as chunking and simplifying difficult rhythms.
How is this different from just practising sight-reading pieces?
Instead of simply giving you more music to read, the course breaks sight reading into the skills that make fluent reading possible. You train those skills individually and then bring them together in real music using the READ → FRET → RHYTHM approach.
Are there interactive exercises?
Yes. The course includes embedded exercises for skills such as note reading, interval identification and key signatures, so you can actively train recognition rather than only watching videos.
Does the course include music I can play along with?
Yes. You’ll have access to embedded play-along scores, allowing you to practise reading in real time while developing rhythm, continuity and confidence.
Do I get the Sight Reading Made Simple book?
Yes. The course includes the complete Sight Reading Made Simple – CCG Edition, bringing the four original books, summary guides and practice plan together into one volume.
How long will the course take?
There’s no deadline. Sight reading is a skill that develops through consistent practice, so you can work through the material at your own pace and continue using the exercises and play-along scores as part of your regular practice.
Will this help me learn repertoire faster?
That’s one of the major benefits of stronger reading. The easier it becomes to understand a score and locate the music on the guitar, the less time you need to spend simply decoding a new piece.
