If You’ve Tried Before But Failed…

Elise had tried composing before, but never managed to finish a piece off… until she wrote this! ‘Fantasie du Printemps; is her first composition (technically her first two combined into one).

“Before I took this course, I had tried many times to compose music. But then I took this course and was handed a very adaptable method on how to start composing.”

Sam composed this piece in 5 hours

Sam took this course and out came this beautiful piece after just 5 hours!

It was noticed by the guitar society Sam is part of and recorded by one of their members, Brian Keenan.

Jeremy composed and recorded his own piece!

"This course was so much more than I was initially expecting! It really reinvigorated my relationship with the guitar. When you are crafting phrases together, music theory becomes tangible and not just an academic exercise. I enjoyed every minute and can’t thank you enough!"

Mildred’s Testimonial

I’m really glad I found this group.

I’d been searching all over YouTube and the internet for how to write music for guitar, but none of it made any sense to me. Even after watching videos multiple times, I still couldn’t figure out how to start or actually get something done.

Then, about a month ago, I saw one of your videos — and later came across another one — and I thought, “Okay, this is where I can really learn how to write for guitar.”

I’m very proud of myself because, as a guitar player, I was able to create something in just one week. I’ve always wanted to write for the guitar, and this feels like just the beginning.

“It’s more familiar when I look at pieces in different keys and how to analyze a piece, to look at the key changes and those types of things. It’s not all a jumbled mess, but also means you can approach a new piece with a bit of a plan and therefore attack it better. I had 2 years of face to face lessons, but nowhere near the progress I’ve made since we started this course.” —- Larry

“It’s a broad landscape that the course covers, which is fantastic because you just don’t tend to get that. But what adds more dimensions to the learning is the fact that we actually have to participate and do it in front of everybody. I’m extremely nervous when it comes to playing for people and just practicing a little thing in front of everybody helps me and tests your knowledge. Most guitarists like me are probably reclusive and don’t get out and play - I would just literally fall apart. So I found this part really good and CCG gives you a good comfortable arena to actually do it.” —- Jim

“The journey’s been fun, even though I’m generally more shy. But when I look at music I look at it differently now and I can point stuff out and understand more of it now and be more expressive. I appreciate the journey, so thank you!” —- Kris

Develop more in 12 Months than in 12 Years

Rob worked on a piece by Piazzolla for 4 months and made drastic improvement, memorizing it and playing it with musical sensitivity. How did he do this?

• He followed CCG’s 4 steps for learning pieces

• He played in front of a small group every week for 4 months

You can do it too if you follow the same path!

Finally enjoy playing for others

Learn strategies and methods that will make you comfortable performing. Listen to how it worked for Kevin!

“I just attended my first master class and it was wonderful. Today's main topic was rubato and after Daniel demonstrated the technique, the performers applied it immediately in their playing. Very nice! I would definitely pay attention to rubato from now on.”

Testimonial from Helen:

“Highly recommended. I have learned so much in just 3 months.”

“Both Daniel and the group participants are all kind and encouraging.

By learning how music is composed, I am beginning to understand music theory. My sight reading has really improved as I can see and feel where the music is going.

Starting my grade 6, Daniel has taught me how to approach a piece, understanding landscape and colour of the music before even trying to play it, giving me confidence to play.

The course is excellent value for money....the equivalent of 1.5 hours/month of tutor time, but you have several hours a week and access to vast online resources.”

What members are saying

  • I have always had melodies that pop into my mind. This method gives me a structure that narrows the array of harmonies that I can use to put the melody on paper. It is a beginning, a door to composing.

  • At CCG, a student is supported to learn music theory in a structured manner. This is done by introducing the basic elements (intervals, triads, chord progressions, form, etc) of harmony. A student’s composition may be immediately realised on the guitar. This can be a most satisfying and practical method of unlocking the mystery of the fretboard.

  • I'm pleased, relieved and proud to say that my performance went well in yesterday's concert. But why?... I've performed a few times in my many years of playing guitar, but rarely have I felt satisfied with how I played. Yet finally, I felt confident that I played well. And quite honestly it's all down to CCG. Finally, I don't crumble in a heap of nerves and am dissatisfied with my playing.
