CCG Spotlight | July 2026 (Part 2)
One of the most exciting things about CCG is seeing members apply what they're learning in creative ways. Here are a few recent highlights from our community!
🎼 Colleen Billington – Rondo
A recent recording of Colleen's energetic and edgy new composition, written during our study of extended forms such as Sonata Form, Rondo, and Theme & Variations. It's a wonderful example of blending classical structure with a fresh, modern musical language.
🎻 Rick's String Quartet – Karekare Beach
Professionally recorded by a string quartet in Vienna, this highly energetic work is driven by compelling motives and rhythmic momentum. It also shows that guitarists can absolutely develop the skills to compose for other instruments.
🎸 Robin – Beethoven String Quartet Op. 18 No. 5 (Guitar Duet Arrangement)
A remarkable work in progress! Robin has manually arranged Beethoven's string quartet for two guitars, entering every note from the original score. Along the way, he's gained invaluable insights into Beethoven's compositional craft.
📖 Paula – Partimento Notes for Guitar
Paula has created an outstanding set of notes explaining classic partimento schemata such as the Romanesca and Prinner, showing how these historical patterns can be understood and applied on the guitar.
🎵 Melanie – Choros No. 1 Analysis
Melanie produced a detailed analytical score of Villa-Lobos' Choros No. 1, annotating the form, key areas, phrase structure, harmonic progressions, and figured bass. A fantastic example of learning through deep musical analysis.
These projects are a great reminder that CCG isn't just about learning repertoire—it's about becoming a well-rounded musician.
