Hey Jude: How to Arrange

Here is an arrangement of Hey Jude and the step-by-step process it took to complete it.

The 4 Step Process

1) Key: We chose G Major, giving us open strings in the bass and puts the melody into a good range, mostly in 1st position but high enough to allow bass and filler notes.

2) Form: We chose Ternary Form with an intro and outro. The verse became the A section and the Chorus and Bridge became the B section.

3) Melody: we wrote the melody into a range that was playable - mostly in the 1st position - and also allowed bass and filler notes

4) Bass and Filler: The bass line was added first, mostly following the progression of the Primary Chords, I-IV-V or G, C, D.
