5 Minute Prelude

When people think of composing, they think of lots of barriers and blocks that will stop them from even trying.

One of those blocks is notation. “It’s so complicated to learn how to write down music!"

This is true until you learn some hacks and shortcuts. MuseScore is a free notation program and has many shortcuts that help make composing simple, fast and easy.

Just earlier, I was teaching a class some of these shortcuts and we wrote a piece together in a matter of minutes that uses a lot of them. Things like copy/paste, changing octaves and moving tablature quickly by dragging the numbers all made it possible to write this piece down super fast.

Yes, it's generic and similar to other pieces you've heard before, but this is a beautiful starting point for someone learning to compose for the first time. You can always be more unique/original later 😁

Join us on The Creative Classical Guitarist as we learn how to make composing simpler, easier and faster than you could imagine. For the rest of January, we'll be covering MuseScore notation techniques that will help you write down music extremely fast.
